Karen Lord – Yoga Teacher

(available for special event, corporate/organization, private group)

Karen will lead you through the calming gentle stretching of hatha yoga practice combined with the joyous abdominal workout of laughter yoga. Laughter Yoga is a new form of exercise akin to internal jogging that promotes the use of laughter as form of physical workout. Its core premise is that your body can and knows how to laugh, regardless of what your mind has to say. Because it follows a body-mind approach to laughter, participants do not need to have a sense of humor, know jokes, or even be happy. The invitation is to “laugh for no reason“, faking it until it becomes real. Laughing is an easy way to strengthen all immune functions, bring more oxygen to the body and brain, foster positive feelings and improve interpersonal skills.

A personal yoga experience focusing on a clients specific needs and goals can be designed. Private sessions can be great for someone looking for more one on one support, struggling with anxiety, depression and behavioral issues, or simply looking to develop a stronger practice.

A unique Yoga class designed especially for the special need individual. This class incorporates the traditional elements of a yoga practice such as strength, flexibility and balance while allowing the participants to be in a safe and supportive environment. An emphasis will be placed on teaching body awareness and allowing individuals to discover which postures feel best in their bodies to make them feel strong, limber and relaxed. Our goal is to teach the class not only safe effective exercise but to leave them feeling relaxed and de-stressed. This class is great for any individual looking to build functional strength and flexibility as well as anyone looking to cope with stress, anxiety and overwhelm.

We come to you! Yoga in the workplace is a great way to add fitness to your day while leaving you feeling energized and relaxed. Classes can be designed and tailored to each group’s needs; whether they are looking for a relaxing meditative flow or a more invigorating vinyasa flow. Specific focus is often placed on movement appropriate for the typical ” desk sitting” population. This includes opening tight areas of the body such as the hips, chest and neck while strengthening the back body and postural muscles.
